Welding Process

Ultrasonic spot welding is used predominantly when flat mouldings without weld preparation (ED) have to be welded, such as semi-finished products, thermoformed, blow-moulded, or large-surface mouldings.

The tip of the sonotrode penetrates through the upper part into the lower part. Heat produced on the contact surfaces plasticises the material. The expelled plastic forms a ring-shaped elevation while the back of the lower part remains free of marks.
